Sentimental Gems is the signature collection of Kerri Jarrett Designs and like many meaningful things, it began behind the chair.

For over two decades, I’ve worked as a stylist and now as a Certified Trichologist specializing in epigenetics and stress awareness. Trichology is the science of hair and scalp health, but at its core, it’s a study of how our bodies respond to stress, change, and emotion. Every strand tells a story. Over the years, I’ve seen how deeply connected the scalp, the nervous system, and self-awareness truly are.

That connection led me deeper into the science of epigenetics the study of how our environment, thoughts, and behaviours influence which genes turn on or off. In simple terms: what we think, feel, and focus on can affect how our body functions. That’s not “energy talk.” That’s biology.

Through both science and lived experience, I began to see that epigenetics and intention setting are two sides of the same truth: what we focus on, we reinforce. When we consciously set an intention to heal, to find calm, to move forward, we’re communicating safety and clarity to the body. We’re giving our nervous system new instructions.

That’s why self-awareness is such a powerful tool. When we slow down long enough to notice what we need and choose to direct our attention with care, we change more than our mindset, we change our chemistry. It’s a practice that blends the measurable with the meaningful.

With my Celtic and Slavic roots, the practice of intention setting has always felt familiar, like remembering something ancient. For generations, my ancestors used oathing stones in ritual to seal promises and mark transitions. It’s this same practice that inspired Sentimental Gems, small talismans designed to help us anchor what matters most.

Whenever a client was moving through change, a loss, a milestone, or a new beginning, I would quietly offer them something small: a few crystals, or when time allowed, a handmade piece of jewelry to carry their intention forward.

What began as a simple gesture soon became something much deeper. Clients started sharing how these tokens helped them feel steady, supported, and seen. Before long, they were asking me to create pieces for loved ones, colleagues, and friends.

That’s how Sentimental Gems was born, through genuine moments of connection. What started as an intuitive act of care grew into a jewelry line grounded in meaning. Each piece is designed to anchor intention, to transform everyday moments into keepsakes, and to remind us that when we hold awareness close, everything shifts.

Today, Sentimental Gems continues that legacy, blending the science of stress awareness, the art of self-connection, and the timeless tradition of oathing stones into wearable reminders of calm and clarity.

For me, creating jewelry is more than design, it’s my own practice of mindfulness. It keeps me present while researching, teaching, or writing. It’s how I stay connected to what I teach, that awareness isn’t just something we think about; it’s something we live, hold, and wear.

Because this work, whether through The Hair Wire, where I teach the science of stress and self-awareness, or through Sentimental Gems, where that awareness becomes art, all comes back to the same truth:

When you understand your patterns, you can rewrite them.
When you anchor your intention, you can live it.
