Hair Serum

Hair serums are an essential part of a hair care routine as they can help nourish and protect the hair from damage caused by external factors such as pollution, heat styling, and UV rays. They can also provide added shine and smoothness to the hair. They can help your hair dry faster, more evenly, and balance the ph in your hair from roots to ends - plus will help prevent static.

To use hair serums correctly, it's important to start with clean, dry or damp hair. Take a small amount of serum and apply it evenly through the lengths of your hair (ie where your hair starts to touch your shoulders) focusing on the ends. Avoid applying the serum to your scalp as it can make your hair look greasy. I will add serum to more environmentally exposed hair for example the hair around the side burn area in the winter or dryer seasons. Use your fingers like a comb to distribute the serum evenly through your hair. It's important not to use too much serum as it can weigh down your hair and make it look oily.Start with a small amount and add as you feel you need to.  For my long hair I use about the size of a nickle.

Using hair serums regularly can help keep your hair healthy, shiny, and strong. I apply throughout the day on my dry hair as well, it keep my ends nourished and protected. Do not worry it will not weigh out your hair, as long as you are using correctly.

See below a few of my favourites, and a little secret about me I have a tray of them, I use them in my hair like perfume.  I love the smells, and often am told how nice my hair smells.

The Boar Bristle Brush

Detangling Boar Brush
Benefit from the natural oils from your own hair.

Boar bristle brushes are a popular choice for those with longer hair as they provide numerous benefits for hair health. The natural bristles help distribute the scalp's natural oils, known as sebum, throughout the hair, keeping it moisturized and healthy. The bristles are gentle and don't cause damage to the hair, making them ideal for detangling and styling. Boar bristle brushes also help to remove dirt and debris from the hair, making it look cleaner and shinier. It's recommended not to clean boar bristle brushes as often as other types of brushes, as the natural oils from your scalp can build up on the bristles and provide added benefits for your hair. Cleaning them too frequently can remove these oils, reducing the benefits of using the brush. Instead, remove hair from the brush regularly and wash the brush only when necessary.
